ONDEL-ONDEL KONTEMPORER SEBAGAI SIMBOL MASYARAKAT JAKARTA SAAT INI

Abstract

Ondel-Ondel exist for hundreds of years as a tradition of the Betawi people. At first its meaning as a spiritual and cultural symbol, but now present contemporary Ondel Ondel that in terms of visual form has been very different from the traditional Ondel-Ondel. This study attempted to define the outline of the latest visual form of Ondel Ondel as well as the aspirations that led to these changes. The research will use semiotics approach of Rolland Barthes and Julia Kristeva, and using the principles of art and design as a method of visual observation.
