Abstract

In the manufacturing industry, the use of efficient grinding stones is essential to increase
production effectiveness and reduce material wastage. PT XY, a company engaged in the
production of heavy equipment andmining industry components, has been relying on only
one brand of grinding stones, namely Nippon Resibon. This reliance has the potential to
cause supply limitations and sub-optimal costs. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the
efficiency of several grinding stone brands in improving the company's productivity. The
method used is Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)with an input-orientedVariable Return
to Scale (VRS) approach. The data analyzed includes cost, Ergonomic Aspect, stone
saving, productivity, and Total Inventory. We used EMS software to process the data and
identify the most resource-efficient brands. The results of the analysis show that there is
a variation in the level of efficiency among the tested grinding stone brands, with Kinik
grinding stone brand being selected as the most efficient grinding stone brand with a value
of 165,98% and Norton BDX grinding stone brand as the last grinding stone brand with
a value of 94.44%.
