Abstract

The existence of pela as a custom in Maluku has an important role in the midst of
diverse identities in Maluku. This research was conducted to describe the attitudes of the
Amahusu village youth towards pela. The sample from this study was 155 young people of
Amahusu village. Retrieval of data in this research uses the scale of attitudes towards pela.
This research method is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The calculation
of descriptive statistics that used in this study is hypothetical mean. The results of this
research show the attitudes of Amahusu youth towards pela included in the positive
category with an overall mean of 91.28, supported also by the three aspects classified as
positive, namely cognitive, affective, and conative aspects. The positive attitude of the youth
towards pela can be influential in strengthening the relationship between the Amahusu
village and the other village that has a pela relationship with Amahusu.
