Analisis gaya kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru di SMP Karya Pertiwi Kabupaten Tangerang
Abstract
Teacher competence is one of the important factors in determining the success of education. Based on initial observations at SMP Karya Pertiwi, Tangerang Regency, several challenges were found in teachers’ pedagogical, professional, social, and personal competencies. This condition is also related to the implementation of transformational leadership by the school principal, which has not been fully optimal. This study aims to analyze the transformational leadership style of the school principal in providing guidance and direction, identify teacher development and training programs, and explore performance evaluations and follow-up actions to improve teacher competence. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana through data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The research informants consisted of the school principal and teachers at SMP Karya Pertiwi. The results showed that the school principal had implemented transformational leadership through open communication, motivation, routine evaluations, and teacher involvement in decision-making. Development programs such as workshops, MGMP activities, and training also contributed positively to improving teacher competence. However, their implementation still needs to be strengthened to ensure greater consistency, direction, and equal access for all teachers. Transformational leadership has contributed positively to teacher competence development, but continuous program improvement and evaluation are needed to achieve more optimal and sustainable results.
