Abstract

ABSTRAK
Kepemimpinan memainkan peran penting dalam menjaga stabilitas organisasi selama krisis penuh ketidakpastian, di mana pemimpin emergen sering muncul melalui pengakuan sosial daripada otoritas formal. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis representasi kepemimpinan emergen tokoh Thomas dalam film Maze Runner (2014), dengan fokus pada legitimasi melalui tindakan nyata, prinsip adaptif, kecerdasan em
osional, dan pengelolaan konflik di situasi krisis. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif, melalui observasi berulang terhadap enam adegan kunci film dan studi pustaka literatur relevan. Analisis data mengikuti model Miles dan Huberman, meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan emergen Thomas terwujud dalam keberanian, pengambilan inisiatif penyelamatan, pengakuan dari kelompok, pengendalian emosi tim, strategi adaptif, serta kepemimpinan pelarian dari Maze.
Legitimasi ini didasarkan pada kontribusi nyata terhadap keselamatan dan solidaritas tim. Temuan ini memperkuat teori kepemimpinan emergen dengan penekanan pada kecerdasan emosional dalam krisis. Penelitian ini memberikan relevansi praktis bagi pengembangan kepemimpinan partisipatif yang selaras dengan Tujuan 16 SDGs, khususnya keadilan, perdamaian, dan institusi tangguh.


ABSTRACT
Leadership plays a crucial role in maintaining organizational stability during crises filled with uncertainty, where emergent leaders often arise through social recognition rather than formal authority. This study aims to analyze the representation of emergent leadership by the character Thomas in the film Maze Runner (2014), focusing on legitimacy through concrete actions, adaptive principles, emotional intelligence, and conflict management in crisis situations. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, involving repeated observations of six key scenes from the film and a literature review of relevant sources. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model,
including data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Thomas's emergent
leadership manifests in courage, rescue initiatives, group recognition, team emotional control, adaptive strategies, and leading the escape from the Maze. This legitimacy is based on tangible contributions to team safety and solidarity. These elements reinforce emergent leadership theories with an emphasis on
emotional intelligence in crises. This research provides practical relevance for developing participatory leadership aligned with SDG Goal 16, particularly peace, justice, and resilient institutions.
