Abstract

Adolescence is a range of time of finding self-identity, so that adolescents not only
having relationships with parents but the outside environment also gives contributions of
finding those identities. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlatiion of
empathy and adolescent interaction with the quality of friendship of class XII Madrasah
Aliyah Negeri 3 Jakarta. This study involved 118 respondents who were collected by
random sampling technique. Each variable is measured by the Friendship Quality
Questionnaire (FQQ) (Parker & Asher, 1993), Empathy Scale (Davis, 1983), and
adolescents Interaction Scale. Data analysis done by SPSS 22.0 for windows showed a
coefficient (r) = 0.600 proving that there is a positive correlation between empathy and
friendship quality. The results of testing the hypothesis between the quality of friendship
with adolescent interaction obtained a coefficient (r) = 0.566 proving that there is a
positive correlation. Then the hypothesis between empathy variables and adolescent
interactions with the quality of friendship obtained results (r) = 0.642 which indicates a
significant relationship..
