Abstract

This research examines the dynamics of identity politics within the Campus Dawah Institute (Lembaga Dakwah Kampus / LDK) at UIN North Sumatra, focusing on the forms of identity politics, their causal factors, their impact on relations between members, and the organization's efforts to maintain togetherness. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing in-depth interviews with three LDK board members, observation, and literature review. The results indicate that identity politics emerges during discussion processes, decision-making, and the determination of dawah directions, triggered by the organizational backgrounds and social environments of the members. Differences in religious identity do not always yield negative impacts; instead, they can enrich the organization if managed through deliberation (musyawarah) and mutual respect. LDK possesses internal deliberative mechanisms to maintain inclusivity. This research concludes that identity politics can be managed constructively as part of a productive organizational dynamic.
