Abstract

Underground coal mining operations require an air supply to mitigate air pollution within the mining area, thereby ensuring the safety and comfort of the workforce. An appropriate ventilation network is essential to distribute air to the areas where it is needed. This study evaluates airflow methods for ventilation and tunnels to determine the most suitable approach for airflow distribution. Testing and analysis of the k-ε, k-ω, and Reynolds Stress models revealed that the k-ε method was the most appropriate. Additionally, the study examines the influence of the distance between the ventilation outlet and the underground mine tunnel wall.
